ABOUT DATAAD

Thirty-six years of field notes, written down before they disappear.

DATAAD is an independent technology publication covering the systems behind the AI era. It is not produced by a media company. It is written by one engineer who has worked inside the industries it covers.

Who writes DATAAD

JB Kim is the founder and editor. He started as a service engineer — commissioning equipment and diagnosing failures on site — then moved into sales engineering and management. Over thirty-six years that work has touched every field on this site's menu:

Semiconductor

Process cooling connections for fab equipment at Korean chipmakers.

AI Data Center

Rack-level liquid cooling infrastructure, including OCP quick disconnects and blind-mate designs.

Liquid Cooling

Fluid connection systems, from ultra-high-pressure hydraulics to single- and two-phase direct liquid cooling.

Physical AI

Heavy off-highway machinery and hydraulics — the mechanical side of machines that move.

Data & Market

Decades building the business systems his operations ran on, from IBM platforms to SAP to AI-assisted development, alongside B2B industrial sales.

Marine & Energy

Shipbuilding, marine systems and low-speed marine engines.

Energy & EV

EV, battery and power electronics thermal management.

AI & Humanity

A long view of how each technology shift changed the work of the people on the floor.

So when DATAAD writes about a coupling, a CDU or a marine engine, it is describing equipment the editor has specified, installed, trained people on, and seen fail. It is not assembled from press releases.

Why this site exists

Most of what matters in industrial technology is never written down. It lives with engineers who learned it by getting something wrong once, and it leaves the industry when they do. DATAAD puts that middle layer — between the announcement and the product sheet — somewhere it stays useful: for the young engineer facing a failure at a customer site, the buyer comparing suppliers, the analyst trying to see how the pieces fit.

There is no paywall and no subscription. The archive stays open.

How DATAAD is produced

Most articles are field reports from exhibitions, conferences and sites the editor attends in person, or contributions from engineers and industry professionals under their own names. Photographs credited to DATAAD are taken by the editor. How articles are sourced, verified and edited is set out in the Editorial Policy.

Disclosure

The editor is Managing Director of CEJN Korea, a supplier of fluid connection systems. No company, including CEJN, pays for coverage or reviews articles before publication, and where CEJN is directly relevant to a story, the article says so. Full rules are in the Editorial Policy and Advertising pages.
